Nani's upcoming Telugu film Yevade
Subramanyam has wrapped its shooting and the movie is reported to be the only
Indian film to be shot at some of the highest points of Everest.
Directed by Sekar Kammula's protege
Nag Ashwin, Yevade Subramanyam is the journey of a guy who sets out to find his
true self.
Debutante film maker said, “Our
hero is a very successful corporate chap, earning the highest pay package. So
you take this guy and throw him in the Himalayas, where things like how much he
earns doesn't matter. Then the question about who he truly is becomes
relevant.”
“This is an existential comedy. It
is more about a grumpy fellow wondering what he is doing in the Himalayas”, he
added.
When the world is back of Masala
films, isn't Ashwin scared of making experimental film. “Yes, people are used
to huge movies like Magadheera and Baahubali, but this too is a huge film in a
different way”, he answers.
The trek started from Lukla, number
one scariest Airport and is right on a cliff and it’s a slope. Next was the
Gokyo, which is 4750 meters high, followed by Chola Pass at 5420 meters. Apart
from shooting, the team also needed to be prepared for trekking as they had to
wrap up work in one place and walk to the next location.
Yevade Subramanyam team is said to
have developed a spiritual impinge on the Himalayas. “Even after encountering
various problems in the Trip to Everest, which seems funny now, none of the cast
and crew had give up”, director adds.
“Now, back in Hyderabad, they feel
a great sense of accomplishment. But life in the city seemed very strange to
them after spending more than a month in the tranquil mountains. It's good to
see everyone came back leaner and fitter, Nag Ashwin signs off.
Malavika Nair has paired opposite
Nani in Yevade Subramanyam that is being produced by Priyanka Ashwini Dutt.
Movie is expected to hit screens earlier 2015, firstlook soon.
