Director Sampath Nandi, who is waiting to wield megaphone for Powerstar Pawan Kalyan's film Gabbar Singh 2, scripted story and dialogues for Gaalipatam, besides producing it. This movie is out in theaters now.

What is it about?

Karthik (Aadi) and Swathi (Erica Fernandes) are married but not happy. Kathik was madly in love with Paaru (Kristina Akeeva) before he gets married to Swathi. He regrets the decision of marrying Swathi and even Swathi is not happy with him. She refuses Aarav's (Rahul) sincere love and happily marries the one that her parents chose. Karthik and Swathi decide to get divorced and get back to their lovers.

Performances:

Aadi: Aadi is good in the role of a simpleton. He does justice to his character. Should take care over his dialog delivery in casual scenes. Seems like he is putting too much focus on pronouncing the words in a right way. No one converses in that fashion in real life. Aadi should try to be as casual as possible.

Heroines:  Kristina Akeeva doesn't have the features of a Telugu girl. She did an okay job in a very broad minded characters. Erica Fernandes is competent too. She excelled in the confrontation scenes with Aadi.

Others:  Rahul is decent as a sincere lover. Bhargavi and Bharath Reddy track is good. Posani Krishna Murali goes overboard. Saptagiri tries too hard to make us laugh. Chandra of Jabardast fame is good. Pragathi and other actors did their bit.

Technicalities:

Direction: Naveen Gandhi's direction is not up to the mark. He failed to get the mood right. Too much focus on the human emotions in second half is not required for this film. Director took a wrong turn when things looked very promising in the first half. A polished and focused approach during second half could have made this a very big success with the target audience.

Others: Music composed by Bheems is decent enough. Songs doesn't make you search for the exit. That's a big achievement for a small film. Cinematography is cool too. Sampath Nandi excelled as dialog writer. He played to the galleries and scored big as a dialog writer. He could have toned down those double meaning dialogues to make it a pleasant watch for elders too. Producers made a quality product without compromising on the budget.

Positives:
Storyline
First Half
Dialogues

Negatives:
Second Half
Obscene content in few scenes

Analysis: Gaalipatam is a decent film that will appeal to the target audience. This film's main focus is to impress the youth and they will give a tick mark to this one. However there are few issues with the narration that even the youngsters may feel that they are out of place.

First half of the film runs on a high note with breezy entertainment. There are few scenes where the director and writer have gone overboard. But barring those scenes Gaalipatam first half is pretty impressive with ample entertainment. Even the storyline of the film is very modern and bold for a Telugu movie. Only Bollywood makers are dealing with such bold themes.

Director pushes entertainments to the back seat in the second half. This is a surprise move and audience who enjoyed the first half will not be ready for the sudden change in the approach of the film. There are far too many messages in the second half that even comedy scenes end with a prolonged speech from spoilt characters. Climax is expectedly on the heavier side and wouldn't impress many. You can watch Gaalipatam if you are game for Adult comedies. First half of the film itself is paisa vasool.

Verdict: Bold Attempt with a nice dose of entertainment.
